The Nearing Fires reaching for One of the Neighborhoods of Rolling Hills Ranch (Near San Miguel Mountain, This was part of the San Miguel Mountain fire), this when people were still looking pretty closely at the fire before the police jumped in because many went close enough to the fire to feel the heat of it. - Oct 23, 2007 (sdpenaloza)
everything turned out fine luckily , most of the neighborhood on voluntary evacuation were there because we were worried if it reach the first neighborhood it might be time to leave, the firemen did a heroic job and stopped it in its tracks .
Good to hear. I can't imagine what we would do if something like that happened here.
We've got a friend here *Fort Worth, TX* that is a paramedic for a fire dept, I'm waiting to hear that he's going that way. Normally if something like this happens they'll pack up and go to try and help.
I appreciate you posting the pic though. It's one thing to see it on tv..almost unreal but seeing it through someone else's eyes..it's just..wow.
Take care of yourself and Good Luck. I'll be hoping that those fires stay away and are out soon.

Was the lucky one actually even though 2 fires threaten the neighborhood both headed towards the ridge to Spring valley, which i heard Spring Valley turned out ok as well so the south was pretty blessed at least on the more populated areas >.<. (smaller communities near the border where harris fire started are burnt and from what i heard yesterday, Mexico is now dealing with some of the Harris fire as well)
Mountain San Miguel although wasn't so lucky, being one of the central hubs for wireless communication and being burnt in the San Miguel fire, communication is limited to all that use the San Miguel Radio and frequency towers.
But i gotta feel for the people in San Bernardo community in san diego county, pretty sure all the world news been focusing on that area specifically for the Witch fire that burned that place from Sunday to i think still wednesday they got the hardest hit, and they were the one that got hardest hit in 2004 San Diego Firestorm too x.x (Cedar fire).
Thank you very much for the info, i am sure your friend can bring valuable aid needed to many in my county , if needed
Thank you for your message ^_^ as well, i'll stay safe, at the moment just worried about the northern cities of the county because they are having it worse than we had it.
I was reading about it online earlier today (at work ^_^) and looking at the maps..without that I would be completely clueless about the places you were referring to just now. I agree too..at least from what I've read Witch Fire seems to be the worst, last I read over 195,000 acres have burned with only 1% of the fire contained..which, if you think about it size-wise that's just insane.
Plus my poor husband works for Verizon Wireless and normally watches the towers in Southern Cal. He hasn't enjoyed working the past several nights and I can't blame him when his job is literally burning to the ground. But the people he works with and for are good, they'll get things up and running again..it'll just take time and with any luck some hope from mother nature. Those winds need to chill out. It would be awesome to see you guys get some good rain.

ouch x.x, ya luckily mother nature been pretty kind when it came about the wind, on tuesday they said wind would be pretty bad, as it turned out it was a calm day, which allowed alot of the fires to be contained or better controlled .
haris from what i heard is like 25% contained now, and think witch is like 10%.
But ya alot of the infrastructure of electric and communication is pretty damaged, at this point i think mexico is giving what spare electrical power to sdge (the San diego county electric providers, since last i heard 3 or 4 of the main arteries from the power plants were damaged or destroyed)
Good thing though seems like the presidents visit today seem to lift alot of people's spirits including the firefighters (the deserve it)
as for rain hoping for it but its been quite awhile since i saw rain or a sprinkle for that matter. (we were in a drought before this fires all happen)
hoping the winter comming in will provide needed rain .
Yeah rain is always a good thing- we've been getting psychotic amounts here in Texas.. you may remember late spring/early summer we had all that flooding here. It was literally all around us, not in the immediate area mind you, but a lot closer than I would have liked it to be.
Fun how the weather works that way sometimes. And I've never understood that either. California..near the ocean..should= lots of rain right? Yet in all the pictures I see the plant life reminds me of what I would see in Arizonia.
LOL this is the part when I get to tell you the farthest West I've been IS Texas..so what do I know?
It's good to hear Bush is trying to put forth a 'better effort' for you guys..I heard he quoted that they had 'learned things from Katrina', and I certainly hope so. It's retarded when your own government won't help you. With any luck, everything will get back to normal sooner than later and it's good news about the winds.
I haven't seen the news yet today- I'll be happier when they get some of the larger fires a little more under control...well, the smaller ones too..I think that came out wrong..

ya , San Diego without the water we take from other places would be a desert ironically even with beaches and all xD. hearing everyday the fire is being more contained so its definely getting better . and bush's words does help the county . and nah it didn't come out wrong all the fires are pretty much gone all is left is the big ones and they are getting contained .
